#Freedom2Learn: Silverstone Solutions X Nelson Mandela

One million smartphones donated to learners on the African continent. That’s the goal of the #Freedom2Learn campaign by Nelson Mandela’s Long Walk to Freedom Library Project and AG Mobile – powered by a mobile platform built by South Africa’s Silverstone Solutions, who I consult for here in Jamaica.

The AG Mobile ‘Freedom’ smart devices are manufactured in South Africa and are pre-loaded with educational resources and exclusive Mandela content and imagery. But how does the campaign work?

#Freedom2Learn promotes the legacy of Mandela with 67 mobile-social media-based challenges – a number that represents the 67 years that the first black president of South Africa devoted to the anti-Apartheid struggle. Persons and organisations can take part in the challenges to raise awareness and to donate.

The campaign runs on Silverstone’s CauseWRX mobile web browser-based platform (user don’t need to download an app to take part) which empowers non-profits in South Africa to partner with sponsoring brands. Non-profits get the help they need to raise funds and awareness, and brands get to engage around with real social causes.
